New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Executive Deputy Commissioner Stanley Gee will give the keynote address at the 2007 International Chinese Transportation Professionals Association-U.S. Northeastern Chapter (ICTPA-USNE) Annual Meeting on September 22, 2007. Gee will also be the recipient of the 2007 ICTPA-USNE Achievement Award for excellence in the advancement of transportation.

Gee will detail the mission and vision of NYSDOT under the stewardship of Governor Eliot Spitzer and discuss the challenges the agency faces as it confronts the State’s ever-aging infrastructure needs.
"We will have to be flexible, creative and very determined in order to meet the challenges before us and to successfully provide a safe, balanced and efficient transportation network that gets people and goods where they need to be, when they need to be there," Gee said. "Our approach is a comprehensive one involving multimodal options, innovative traffic solutions, and other capital improvements aimed at providing New Yorkers, and all who work, travel and visit here, with a world-class transportation network."

The ICTPA-USNE Achievement Award is presented on an annual basis for excellence by the transportation industry and government agencies in the advancement of transportation to meet the needs of citizens more effectively. This year’s award will honor Gee for his outstanding contributions to the transportation industry.
ICTPA is a non-profit professional organization formed in 1988 and based in Washington, D.C. Its mission is to provide a communication vehicle for all Chinese transportation professionals worldwide to share their knowledge and experience to assist them in establishing career networks in the field of transportation. It has more than 500 members in the U.S., Taiwan and China.

The ICPTA-USNE Annual Meeting will be held Saturday, September 22 at the Sheraton Hotel in Flushing, Queens County, and will include four technical sessions and a membership networking session. The award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m., with Gee’s keynote speech immediately following.
